DESIGN & TECHNOLOGY

U-Line’s New Line
Under-counter refrigeration and icemakers were developed in the era of the cocktail, when having plenty of ice and mixers at hand was essential to create the varied popular concoctions. The cocktail hour became a mainstay of entertaining and usually took place in the den or living room giving rise to the design of amazing cocktail sets and numerous accessories that today are collector’s items. This tradition of fine living is firmly established in our lifestyle albeit with some changes, the cocktail has made somewhat of a comeback but even more popular today is wine tasting and collecting. The numerous tasting options available and the discovery of interesting wine and food pairings make this an endlessly enjoyable pursuit.

The configuration of the modern house has also changed and now is more likely to have a “great room” that combines the kitchen and family living/entertaining room. Formal dining rooms are still a must-have while media rooms, outdoor living rooms and separate entertainment areas for the young people are becoming increasingly popular. As home design has adapted to our changing lifestyle so have the products that we rely upon for our day-to-day living and entertaining.

U-Line, long the leader in the built-in, under-counter refrigeration market, creates innovative high-quality products designed to meet the needs of a new era of fine living. And with their new generation of undercounter refrigeration models, they have once again set the bar at an all time high.

Wine Captains Whether you are a serious wine collector or only purchase a few favorite wines, the most important factor in maintaining the integrity of wine is storage at the correct temperature. Storing wine at the correct temperature allows it to age slowly, ultimately yielding greater complexity in taste. Other important storage factors include:

Lighting–wine exposed to too much light will age prematurely.
Humidity–an important factor in keeping the cork resilien.

Stability–wines should be stored horizontally in an environment that is free of vibration.

U-Line Wine Captains with their unique triple temperature zones, provide all of these essential features and many more in stunning designs to complement any area of the home. Wine Captain models and additional features include:
