So…you’re ready to remodel your kitchen, but you can’t make up your mind between a traditional range and a wall oven/cooktop combo. Or you’re struggling between a side-by-side refrigerator or a freezer-on-bottom model. How do you pick between them? The answer is: stop looking at the appliances for the answer. Sure there are some theoretical pros and cons. Cold air falls – so a refrigerator with a freezer on the bottom uses approximately 16 percent less energy than a side-by-side one.
Depending on the ovens you’re considering, a wall oven/cooktop combo could be a bit more expensive than a traditional range.
But at the end of the day, these issues are secondary. What’s primary? You and your kitchen. How do you want to use your appliances and where do they need to go in the kitchen? Inevitably, every appliance selection comes down to that. If the perfect spot for your oven isn’t the perfect spot for your burners, then a wall oven/cooktop is the solution. If you have a bad back, a side-by-side refrigerator will limit the frequency with which you’re bending over. All in all, remember, when it comes to refreshing or remodeling your kitchen, the appliances aren’t the questions, they’re the answers.
